We at Canada Greenhouse Kits are 100% Canadian owned and operated company Located in Greater
Toronto area.We are dedicated to meeting the ever-growing needs of
Canadian gardeners and greenhouse enthusiasts. Hobby greenhouses
enable gardeners to start their gardening season whenever they wish
regardless of climate. Plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables can
all be grown and is of special interest to those wishing to grow
their own organic produce. Affordable, environmentally friendly,
recyclable hobby greenhouses made of innovative polycarbonate sheets
which are strong, durable, lightweight, insulated in the winter and
heat resistant in the summer. The greenhouses come in a kit. No
special tools other than a level are required to assemble the hobby
greenhouses. All the pieces of the hobby greenhouse snap together,
and each greenhouse comes with easy-to-follow instructions. All the
pieces of the greenhouse are numbered for ease of installation. The
greenhouses can be purchased in two sizes. Extensions are offered
and can be added at a later date in order to increase the length.
Rather than the traditional A-frame, the greenhouses have a
barn-shaped roof design adding more headroom.
Whatever your choice of material for the foundation, the
base must be level and square, and built to the exact outside dimensions of
the greenhouse. (A foundation sketch will be provided.)
If you will be having raised foundation, lowering the
door to ground level is a free option. This is called a door drop. The
opening to leave for the door will be noted on your sketch and this
dimension must be confirmed upon order.
The most economical foundation is Rion’s specifically
developed base, and we feel it is your best option. This base is made of heavy-duty plastic with a honeycomb like design
and it is closed U-shaped. When the base is filled with dirt, it will not
move (nor will the greenhouse), and no other stakes etc. are necessary.
Other option is a row or two of 4 x 4 timbers (or 6x6’s for larger
greenhouses). If possible, concrete blocks in the corners will also help to
keep the timbers from eroding. Other foundation options include a concrete
slabs or a raised concrete wall. The higher a foundation is raised, the more
head room becomes available inside the greenhouse for hanging baskets and
tall plants.
